CLC-USA
Representatives to the World Assembly presenting our national symbol, a
crazy quilt. The back of the quilt is finished with material that was received
from all of you. There is a signature block showing the three women who
made this happen. Virginia Fisher did the design layout and the quilting.
Ruth Kier and Sally Taylor helped with the sewing, pressing and so on. |
The
front side: The dark area at the bottom left depicts the Twin Tower tragedy
of 9/11 as well as the child abuse scandel. Also, the star of hope we feel
for our Church and our faith. The three concentric hearts on the left margin
represents the Trinity. The healing water flowing from the Trinity washes
away our hurts and our fears and nourishes the tree representing rebirth and growth. The tree also blends with the green border which also represents our hope. Some of the leaves are not fully attached representing that our growth is not complete. The patches to the left of the tree and the eagle are representative of various aspects of America. There is also a small strip "umoja" tying our Symbol to Africa. The corners are marked with material received from VCC and represents their closeness to CLC-USA and their hopes of affiliation next year. |
